Family Road Map

Christ Church Lake Forest has developed a practical but God-centered road map for families to travel from infants through senior high. Parents typically have a budget plan a retirement plan but not many have a map for their child's spiritual growth and development. We have created 12 key mile-markers that the Children and Youth Ministries of Christ Church are committed to teaching and equipping parents to practice at home. View the expanded Family Road Map.

Christ Church: Serving and strengthening the family

Raising a family is hard work. So our Family Ministry encourages and equips busy families by creating quality family events, high-energy kid and teen programs and practical tools that parents can use every day.

Our Family Ministries serve families with children from birth to high school:

Baby Dedications: We would love to serve you and celebrate your child with you. When you dedicate your child to the Lord you enter into a rich Biblical history of recognizing God's role in your child's life. It is often a first step toward fulfilling Proverbs 22:6, "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

Lighthouse is the place kids want to be. From infants through fourth grade, children enjoy a safe, caring environment. Our curriculum is Bible-centered and encourages even the youngest child to apply Biblical truths to their own lives.

Route 6:6 is specifically designed to encourage families to teach their kids about Godly virtues within the home environment, just as God intended.( See Deuteronomy 6:6-7) Each month we focus on a different virtue with the goal of empowering families to practice the virtue at home. Our high energy and creative program helps families create a common language and experience to build off of. We also make available a practical family resource that allows parents to encourage their children to grow in Godly character.

Club 56 is where 5th and 6th graders explore their faith in ways that relate to those all-important preteen years. Worship, small group studies, community service and FUN are all on the agenda.

Wild Kingdom is where 7th and 8th graders connect. Practical Bible studies show Junior High students how to follow Jesus every day of their lives. Students meet in and out of church as they participate in social events and service days. In 8th grade, students have the opportunity to join the Compass program, a 16-week confirmation class that studies the Christian faith in depth.

SHYG is our Senior High Youth Group. Weekly meetings, as well as social and service-oriented activities, are aimed at building a community of Christ-followers who will reach out to bring the love and truth of Christ to those around them. A caring and supportive environment helps students make the most of those wonderful, challenging high school years.

Christ Church Lake Forest also provides the Family Resource Center, a lending library designed to provide practical resources for families of all ages. The Family Resource center offers 16 shelves filled with a wide variety of books, CDs, DVDs and videos for all children and parents.

Our Family Resource Center is a wonderful tool for parents and kids. Parents can often find practical advice, teaching tools for kids, educational CDs for that long commute to work, or some fun wholesome family videos. This is a resource that encourages families to grow their families and marriages in a way that honors God.

Family Time Events are designed to create a meaningful, but fun experience for the families. It is a chance for the family to simply enjoy life together as a family while building lifetime memories. We currently offer a fall trip to Richardson Corn Maze; an Advent Family Worship filled with crafts, music and food: a Birthday Party for Jesus; Cosmic Bowling, and three opportunities to enjoy one on one time with one of your kids playing golf in Lake Bluff over the summer.
