Christ Church Lake Forest offers Route 6:6, an exciting program for families with kids through 5th grade, designed as an interactive, theatrical and creative support to help those families live-out the wise and relevant council of the bible within the home environment. It is directed by Tom Lenane who has taught theater for 28 years at Harry S. Truman College and has directed a variety of professional theater in Chicago.
Route 6:6 is founded on a passage from the Old Testament, which Moses recorded in Deuteronomy 6:6-7. Here is the bible's counsel:
These commandments that I give to you today are to be upon your hearts, impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Route 6:6 features drama, singing, media and animated teaching. It is a 30-minute program offered on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month (in between services at 10:20). Our newly designed space allows parents and kids to watch the Route 6:6 program together - creating a common language and allowing both to refer back to examples. The program is specifically designed for K – 5th grade kids and their parents but younger and older siblings are invited, as well. See Route 6:6 monthly virtue for a sneak peak of what virtues will be covered for the rest of the year.
Family Time Virtue Kit

The Family Time Virtue Kit helps families practice the virtue outside the walls of the church. Each month a new virtue (such as truthfulness, joy, compassion, love and gratitude) will be featured. It is designed around 4 key times in your child's day: 1. Breakfast Time; 2. Car Time; 3. Dinner Time; and 4. Bed Time. Historically, the church provided wise counsel but the parents provided the real life examples - the kids always follow the examples. Route 6:6 is designed to help parents drive the wise counsel home so that it becomes the example practiced within the home.
Family Road Map
Christ Church Lake Forest has developed a practical but God-centered road map for families to travel from infants through senior high. Parents typically have a budget plan a retirement plan but not many have a map for their child's spiritual growth and development. We have created 12 key mile-markers that the Children and Youth Ministries of Christ Church are committed to teaching and equipping parents to practice at home. View the expanded Family Road Map.
