Books for our Neighbors: Reading Power, a volunteer tutoring program in North Chicago, needs new or gently used kindergaten-second grade level reading books. If you can help, bring the books to the church office anytime in October.
Great Service Opportunity: The Westmoreland Nursing Center has asked us to be part of the rotation of churches offering a short Sunday service on the third Sunday of every month at 11:30 a.m. We know of some people who would help from time to time, but need someone who would be our monthly coordinator. Contact the church office at (847) 234-1001 for more information.
Have A Heart For Ministering To Children With Special Needs? A young child that attends the 9:00 service would like a buddy to help him participate in Lighthouse programs. Please call Sandy (x131) for more information.
Encourage a missionary: Several of our missionaries are in need of laptops (newer models, please). Donations are tax deductible.
Families in crisis: If you would like to help provide food for families in crisis, call 847-234-1001 for more information.
Interested in becoming a Safe Family? Safe Families are intended to provide safe, temporary care for children who are at risk for abuse or neglect, or whose family is homeless, financially struggling, and/or incapable of safely caring for their children. Parents voluntarily place their children with Chicago's LYDIA Home Association in a Safe Family, for a time, while they work on addressing the problems that led to this period of instability. Call the church office at 847-234-1001 for more information.
