1 Peter 4:10 - Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
Worship and Arts Ministries here at Christ Church exist to foster a community of whole-hearted worshipers. We believe that to worship is to give everything we have in response to who Jesus is and what He has done in us (Heb. 13:15,16). We desire to lift up Christ in all we do and believe that creative activity such as music, dance, poetry, visual art, and multimedia are vital elements that help the Church gather, encounter God's Presence and respond to His goodness. To this end we invest ourselves in:
Hebrews 13:15 - Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise - the fruit of lips that confess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Relationships:
We believe that artists are a great gift to the Church and that the natural outcome of their efforts should be an environment where people are inspired to respond in worship and adoration. We know that significant relationships are the key to long-term service, so we work hard to make every artist at Christ Church feel valued and loved, not just for their talents, but for who they are. One of the ways you can find a home amongst Christ Church artists is to attend our Arts & Media group, held twice each quarter. Here we gather to form relationships with other artists, discuss Scriptural and cultural issues surrounding the arts, collaborate on seasonal and outreach events, and share our ongoing creative work with one another.
Resources:
One of the key responsibilities of the very first corporate arts ministers was to make sure that they passed on their knowledge and skill to the next generation of artists (Exodus 35:34). At Christ Church we offer all-church training opportunities in Worship & Arts twice a year (Fall and Spring). These gatherings give us a chance to step back from our normal activities and gain some Scriptural and practical foundations to help us serve our community. We also produce in-house materials such as articles, CDs and multimedia resources to help our congregation grow in their life of worship.
Releasing:
If you are an artist and desire to serve the church with your gifts, we have many ways for you to be involved.
